The overall point I was making here was that the majority of FF Patrons are NOT interested in the art and could care less about respecting the Artists or the space they're in. As someone who has worked within the scene since the early 90's or so, my approach has been proven successful at least in regards to my sales. BTW, "Hot" is also in the eye of the beholder, so I wouldn't worry about exclusion- stronger sales however, will come only when we improve the status of FF from a street party back to an Art Walk. Am I caustic? Yes. Am I wrong? I don't think so, and my email on this particular blog right now is running way more in my favor that against, so I think I'm on the right track. As a side note, I DO encourage (and value) debate on what I've written or said, especially if it's contrary to mine- an open dialogue always starts in the middle as afar as I'm concerned. If you do have an opinion on something I've said, it will be addressed as long as it's not ranting (that's my job) threatening, or anonymously delivered. So please feel free to comment here, I actually look forward to it. ;)Wayne Michael Reichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04298352082213551344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2408391735271582965.post-41448866435148605472011-09-30T02:52:07.106-07:002011-09-30T02:52:07.106-07:00People who don't spend real money on good art ...People who don't spend real money on good art sometimes know people who do, and back when I (one of those who doesn't) got around better and would see stuff I liked, my opinion sometimes got back to those people who do. Sometimes this gets the artist more sales.

I dress badly (usually), am not a hot girl by doorman standards, and sometimes talk with my friends in galleries, but other than that I'd think you'd want my type around. Book, cover, etc.

I usually don't see much point in commenting on your posts; they kind of stand alone, for me, and I don't believe in critiquing your writing or tone, especially given that you've made it clear how you value that. I'm more interested in your health and [happiness, success, sense of purpose, self-actualization -- however you see that thang].

But I've been to Portland's Art Walk as well as Phoenix's (not for a couple of years, though), and I just can't shake my conviction that more people ought to see the good art, no matter who they are, no matter whether they buy it. It's not the best way to get it sold, but I think it helps the Artist's and Patron's souls, as well as generating at least a little networking. You don't wanna schmooze with everybody, 'cause your resources to do so are valuable and finite? I respect that. But it works, on some level, for some.

Warm regards,
Julie PetersonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
